Won't start 200 1978

I don't want you to let this take up to much of your time.

My brick won't start. It has 12.2 volts on the battery, new plug wires, new spark plugs and all ground wires seems to be okay and hooked up properly. It sounds as though it is just about to start, and maybe will if I give it another shot. However it never starts.

Can you help me? just some ideas would be great.

Thanks in advance

Mads

Re: Won't start 200 1978

It might start if you jump start it with another car. Or charge your battery. The 12.2 volts is too low. Its in the zone. It might start but

you can't rely on it to start. Get your battery charged or jump start the

car. Then use a volt meter and check the charging voltage from the alter-

nator. It should be at least 13.4 volts for it to give your battery any

real charge but usually the voltage will be more like 14v.

Thanks, I'll have my friend over and help me jump start it sometime this weekend.

Hope it helps.

Best regards

Re: Won't start 200 1978

i assume it is cranking over ok on the starter motor but won't fire - correct?

if so, have you checked fuel supply - ie is the pump running during cranking?

what kind of fuel system do you have? what kind of injection?

Re: Won't start 200 1978

Thanks. If I can't jump start it, I will try and check this, although I don't know too much about it.

It doesn't have injection. It's a B19A meaning as you know carburetor fed.

Thanks for the help

Mads
