242glt/230 intake swap? 200 83

Hi guys,

Sorry to dredge this up,am convinced by the response about intercooler that this is nessesity.

However, the intake swap Im not convinced about. If I didnt have one ready to go I would just blow it off.But I have the same intake from the car that I got the intercooler from.

Concerning the swap,I know the tps needs resoldering, which I am not experienced with, sorry Don.So I will have someone do that. But what about the other changes that are necessary? Is there anything else?Ive studied Stu's info and not sure about idle motor bracket change. What else?

Thanks

RR

Its actually quite easy to do, the soldering that is. I wouldn't pay somebody else to. The hardest part is getting getting the rubber casing off.

I think Stu put up some instructions on how to do this...

Re: 242glt/230 intake swap? 200 83

I just finished doing one and for me it was a bit of a PIA. Haven't driven the car yet, so I hope it was worth the effort! i studied all the directions from others and still had some troubles. I opted to use the B21 throttle body so I would not have to resolder a TPS. If you use the B21 TB you have to adapt the part of the linkage hich triggers the micro switch for the idle motor. Be sure and get a throttle cable from a 240 that used the B230 motor, a 740 cable won't work. Be sure and get the brackets too. If you have cruise control you will need them. I had to cut a section of the intake between the 1 and 2 runners for my cpr fuel lines to go thru. Stuff like that…it tkes time. Good luck
