Where are all the 79 - 245's? 200 1979

Just curious. I've been checking out the brickboard for quite sometime and I can count on one hand the number of 1979 245's postings I've seen. Either they never break down or there are hardly any left on the road. I live on the Sunshine Coast a ferry ride North of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. In my small community there are quite of few of these rusty relics still on the road! Where are the rest of you?

Mike,

A friend just picked up a nice `79 245 today. It's tight, but needs some minor adjustments such as: turning down the idle, and fixing the overdrive, blah, blah...anyway, do you have any special knowledge on the `79 245? If you do, I'll direct him to this thread. Thanks in advance.

Re: Where are all the 79 - 245's? 200 1979

Nothing specific about this year and model that I know of. Mine has been exceptionally reliable but it has low mileage (182,000kilometers/112,840miles). Grandma's old car that never got driven! Some of the rubber parts like hoses, motor mounts and bushings are starting to deteriorate and need replacing. I heard the glove box for this year falls apart-Mine has. The spring mechanism is busted so its difficult to open. The glove box and under the dash covers are made of some kind of flimsy cardboard-like material. I've got my eye on a better quality set at the wreckers. They were made better on earlier models (I think)or maybe it was the later models. Anyway I have not seen much posted on the board or archives for these older late 70's Volvo's and I know there are still lots of them on the road.

Mike,

There's quite a few of that model around here too. I don't know any owners though.

John
