960 Imminent stall on braking after driving 900 92

I have a shifting problem with my 92 960, sometimes it feels and sounds like it's gonna stall when I brake to stop, but doesnt. City driving is rough when the engine has warmed up, it shifts up to 3-4-3 quickly with a noticeable lurch. It seems like I may not be the only one with this problem, Volvo mechanic doesn't know what's wrong. They told me try the tranny fluid flush at the cooler lines, but it didn't help. I've been dealing with this for a year, I only wish I knew what the problem is. Has anyone hear about a 92 960 recall on the motronic tranny control?

Re: 960 Imminent stall on braking after driving 900 92

The stalling can be the result of the locking torque converter valve sticking. The mech should get a wiring diagram and find the wire in the plug on side of transand pull it out and then drive it to confirm that prob is gone with valve not operated (fault code will set for it being unplugged). If so then the valve can be serviced by removing pan. How many qts of fluid id they use when flushing? A good flush may take 14-16 qts.
