240 radio replacment 200 1991

I am trying to replace my original radio in my 1991 240. I have taken out all the screws and panels, however, i can only pull the radio out about an inch before it catches on somthing, im not sure how i can get back there to relese whatever is holding it in. Also, by coincidence earlier that same day, my radio wouldnt turn on and just said "COD E", and later it changed to "EEE". what does that mean? any info you could give would be VERY apprciated

THANKS

Pat

Re: 240 radio replacment 200 1991

If you take out the glovebox you can easily release the rear radio support. On my '92 it is a flat metal bar that is bolted to the radio and push-fits into a catch attached under the dash. Squeeze the end at the catch and it should pull right out.

Re: 240 radio replacment 200 1991

you need to put in the security code..it was a 90s way of detering theft..once the battery is disconnected ( or power is disconnected to the radio at any time), the radio will not work until you enter the code. if you don't have it, previous owner did not give it to you etc..it may be available through volvo, but i am not sure. i have mine written in the trunk so will never disappear on me. good luck
