240 radio replacment 200 1991

I am trying to replace my original radio in my 1991 240. I have taken out all the screws and panels, however, i can only pull the radio out about an inch before it catches on somthing, im not sure how i can get back there to relese whatever is holding it in. Also, by coincidence earlier that same day, my radio wouldnt turn on and just said "COD E", and later it changed to "EEE". what does that mean? any info you could give would be VERY apprciated
