Radio won't accept code 700 1989

I purchased a 1989 760 which needed work and now I need to reset the radio and I have the code but cannot get it to accept any code. The owners manual says to enter the code and press AUT....it also says that the numbers will be displayed, but no numbers are appearing at all it only says CODE. Please help!!

    Are you sure you have the right code? I thought I had the code for one of my cars but found out (the hard way) that it had been replaced so the code was different. You can call a volvo dealership with the radio serial and model number and they can verify if you have the right code or not. Hope this helps.

      After numerous attempts and several call sto Volvo they confirmed the code that I am using but still no luck any other things to try? They also tell me that replacements are no longer available through them for 88-90. Thanks again, Bob
