Exhaust stuff 140-160 68

Is there any reason why a 240 series exhaust that goes under the rear axle would not fit a 140? I like that setup better than my over the top design and I have no rear sway bar in the way. I realize that the mounts for the muffler are different, but my setup now is custom anyway, so I'm not really worried about that.

Re: Exhaust stuff 140-160 68

Basically all I was interested in was the actual pipe that goes under the axle before the 2nd muffler. I'm not running a 1st muff and it's going up to ipd's header, so that section I can just fabricate myself, as I have access to a bender at work. The over-the-axle part is just hard to get located right after you mess with stuff. I started out with the fuel injection exhuast, then took off the 1st muffler and ran with one stock muff. Then I replaced the stock muff with a glasspack that was much too loud. Now I'm running a 2 1/4" turbo muff in the 2nd position and I was thinking of just getting a nice stainless turbo muff and using the under axle portion from a 240 and fabricating the rest in 2 1/4" and making everything fit the way it should. I'm a perfectionist about stuff like this, but I can't leave well enough alone!

Re: Exhaust stuff 140-160 68

A nice upgrade to your car while still maintaining easy fitment is to

update to the fuel injection exhaust. I have a 69 wagon and we put the

exhaust for a 71 fuel injected car on it. It runs great and has a nice

sound. Plus it fits like stock. The pipe appears to be at least 1/4 inch

bigger. Make sure you use the fuel injection down pipe because that is

larger than the carb model also.

Re: Exhaust stuff 140-160 68

The floor is substantially different, in late '73 Volvo modified the 140 for better rear impact potection. Moving the fuel tank, and I think, but am not 100% sure, the axle slightly.

That's why it might not fit, whether it will or not, no idea.
