tachometer fit? 200 1977

Greetings all-

I have an extra instrument cluster for my 77 244. I am going to transfer the speedometer over to my 244, but will not use the extra. My neighbor has a 82 245 w/o a tach. On his dash, he has a square section to the right of his insturment panel that looks like my extra tach would fit into. Is this possible? If so, how would I connect it up to his engine? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks-

Joe

Re: tachometer fit? 200 1977

The old type tach that mounts in the center of the main instrument cluster will not easily adapt to the accessory slot in the 80-on cluster. The correct tachs are easy enough to get. Why bother?

Re: tachometer fit? 200 1977

The '75-'80 240 dash uses an instrument cluster with the speedo on the left and the tach in the center. The '81-'93 cluster has the speedo in the center and the tach on the left. They are different, and the tach from a 75-'80 is too small for an '81-'93 cluster. There are tachometers listed on ebay all the time that will fit right into the '81-'93 cluster.

Grab a tach from a junk yard and throw it in if you want, all you have to do is take out the clock, put the tach in, and connect a red wire with a red stripe that's allready there, it's soooo easy.
