tachometer fit? 200 1977

Greetings all-

I have an extra instrument cluster for my 77 244. I am going to transfer the speedometer over to my 244, but will not use the extra. My neighbor has a 82 245 w/o a tach. On his dash, he has a square section to the right of his insturment panel that looks like my extra tach would fit into. Is this possible? If so, how would I connect it up to his engine? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
