Wheel Offset 900 1994

Does anyone know what the required wheel offset is for a 94 940? Does that change if you are moving up to 16inch rims? thanks

Michael

Re: Wheel Offset 900 1994

The wheel offset on a 94 940 is 25mm. The change to 43mm is for the 95 model year.

Re: Wheel Offset 900 1994

I believe the number for the 940 is 25 mm and the 850s and later 960s are 43 mm. The intersection of the steering axis at the interface between the road and the tire is the critical dimension so if you keep the tire's OD the same by using a lower aspect ratio tire on the 16" you'll be fine.

Re: Wheel Offset 900 1994

Thank you for your reply. Your post brings up another question. You stated that the offset for the FWD 850s are 43mm. How are the RWD guys fitting these wheels to their ride. This is all leading up to this question. I have a set of 16 x 7.5 wheels with an offset of 40mm, I've contacted a few machine shops who stated that they could weld shut the existing holes and redrill my vovlo bolt pattern. Is it possible if I get the wholes drilled that I could use the same method, as the FWD to RWD guys are using?

A set of adapter/spacers would cost you about $65 to $75 per wheel from wheeladapter.com. (I got one to use my Volvo spare tire on my boat trailer hub from him. Nice guy to work with.)

Re: Wheel Offset 900 1994

The only way to fit the fwd wheels to a rwd car is with spacers. It's presumably an expensive option to get it done, but with enough money it's possible. As to welding and redrilling holes in the wheels, I'd be concerned about structural integrity, but hey I'm no engineer. Just my .02
