Hot starting problem 200 1990

I have a hot starting problem. No problems on cold starts. Thought it might be the check-valve near the fuel filter, but that was changed not to long ago. Any thoughts.....

thanks,

joe

Re: Hot starting problem 200 1990

Well, a similar problem was posted ad infinitum a few weeks ago.

Check your fuel pump relay. It's a white connector piece located up under the glove box. Pull back the backing and it should drop right down. Seems in hot weather the sodering gets loosey goosey. My fix? Ha ha ha - I just tap the thing a few times and she fires. The real fix, take it apart and re-soder the connections.

Just one man's guess

Any idea if and where the fuel pump relay is located on a 1979 242dl (b21f engine)

Re: Hot starting problem 200 1990

I can't say with certainty, but I would imagine that the fuel pump relay on an older 240 would be in the same place.

On the passenger side of the firewall, there is generally some carpeting material. Pull that back and a connector will "fall" out with lots of wires connected to it. In fact, someone actually posted a photo of it not too long ago. Search the archives for fuel pump relay, and you're sure to find it.

I hope this helps....
