The subject line pretty much says it all. I know they update the fronts of early 200 series all the time in Sweden, but I haven't seen it done here, so far.

I have an '82 that I want to give a more "euro" look but I haven't been able to find a decent set of used euro-spec lights.

So now I switch to plan "B".

I may be able to get a front off a 1990 244, but it's out of town and I haven't been able to see it yet. All the recent-model cars at the local wrecker either have serious front-end damage or have been "clipped" -- so I can't compare what's what in terms of parts between my car and the newer one.

Will I need the fenders, hood, and header panel and/or the front "dress" (the panel behind the headlights)? Or can I mix and match components?

Any info much appreciated.

Have you looked at the "Cibie" headlights on the IPD (ipdusa.com) website. They would give you the euro look at a decent price.

Yep ... that's what you'll need, besides changing some wiring.

Looks aside, this is a poor conversion. Most people want to do vice versa, as those big headlights SUCK!!!

If you want unique, you're much better off finding the early E-code lights ... AFAIK, some Canadian models had those too.

I agree... I would rather have the 81-85 style lights with cibies and a headlight protector from ipd that would fit over them.
