testing ignition system 700 85

my b230ft engine died on the way home,coil was hot. swaped coils still no spark. how do i test the hall effect switch? what else do i need to ckeck? all the fuses are all good. i need quick resolution,the car has been listed for sale for the past week.

    If it's at all like my '83 240... Unplug the connector to the distributor. There should be 3 pins in it. Run a jumper wire or paperclip across the B and C terminals on the harness side of the connector. There should be a spark. If so, check for voltage on the A terminal. If there is voltage there, the hall sensor is probably bad. Good luck.

      I testes every thing as desribed in the faq section and every thing tests good. had spare coil and dist. still no good. coil gets hot with key on.
