Quick question on replacing windshield wiper switch 700 1990

Does the steering wheel have to be removed or can it be done without removing the steering wheel?

I broke the sucker off this morning in the cold (although it's gone through 11 winters before...probably a crack) and if it's easier to drill and reinforce/epoxy it together I'll probably do that rather than pop the airbag off (bad choice of verbs...scuse!) and remove the steering wheel to install a new switch. The thing works fine on the stub, just irritating.

Re: Quick question on replacing windshield wiper switch 700 1990

I posted this about two months ago: it may be in the archives. Remove the plastic trim and look for the torx screws holding the stalk assembly into the steering column. Get a matching torx bit and cut the end down with a diamond saw so it's short enough to fit into the end of a 1/4 inch combination wrench (affixed with tape or adhesive), allowing you just enough room to get in there and remove the torx screws. Pull the screws, replace the stalk, and replace the screws and trim.

You should only need to remove the plastic trim. I would be very very surprised if you had to pull the steering wheel. It would be quite "non-Volvo" to have to do that.
