Its that time again... I'm thinking of the Yokohama AVS dB tires, or the same Dunlop D60/A2s that I ran before (damn nice tires)... I was just wondering whats the most performance-oriented size I can put on my stock 15s without messing up the speedometer reading or the handling. I was thinking 205/55/15? Lemme know what you guys are running...

If you want to continue to run with 205/55/15 then give some thought to Bridgestone Potenza RE730. This is a Z-rated tire and very sticky in dry and better than most in wet conditions. These cost $98 a piece on tirerack.com.

If you don't want to get Z-rated tires then I would get Bridgeston Potenza RE950. This is an exceptional H-rated tire with a 45000 miles treadwear warranty. These come in 195/60/15, 195/65/15, 205/60/15, 205/65/15, and 215/60/15. The 195/60/15 is OE size for 740. I am going to get 205/60/15 instead. They cost $75 and $78 respectively from tirerack.com. Check out the testing and survey results on tirerack.com for both of these tires and you will see that they are both better than most tires out there.

What color is your brick? I got passed last night by a nice 740 with a high mileage badge in Hendersonville by the Harris Teeter.

I am interested in your exp with the electric fan conversion. What kind of fan did you use? Volvo 940, aftermarket, GM? I will be putting in electric fans in my NA 240 and 760Ti when I do the timing belts (Jan) and would like some pointers. Do you get your parts from City Auto?

I'm a member of the Acura Vigor club (www.acuravigor.com) and a couple of the guys there have reciently bought the new Bridgestone Potanza RE95s and say that they are VERY nice tires. Vigors are QUITE sensitive (balancing, etc) so if they work good on them they will probably work great on a Vo. Other good tires are Michelin ENERGY Pluses, Michelin Pilot XGT H4s, Toyo Spectrums and Toyo 800 Ultras are good as well (IMHO). My Volvo has 205/55R16s for the spring/summer/fall and 195/65R15s for the winter. I bought the car reciently with new tires, so I don't have the tires on it that I would like.

I had 205/55-15's on my car but they are hard to find now. Stick with the Dunlops. I had them and have Goodyear HP in 195/60-15, stock size.

You can also conside going to a 16 or even a 17 inch rim. You can use FWD rims for a Volvo, but you will need spacers. An additional expense.

Use IPD sway bars and get good shocks.
