Difference in QUALITY between OEM and ScanTech bearings? 200 1993

Bricksters:
I am going to totally redo the front end of my 93 245 (133K miles). Replacing the strut bearings is part of my plan. Now, do I use OEM Volvo parts (if so, where do I buy them from?) or the ScanTech ones made in Sweden for a much more reasonable price?
Thanks for any imput...
Genaro.

I would strongly recommend against buying the ScanTech part for this application. Ok, first of all I bought 2 ScanTechs from RPR. I put them in, 1 broke as soon as the car went back down. The rubber peeled away from the inner metal part. I returned it to RPR, and they sent me another. This one would not fit, the studs were not drilled in precisely the right location. I returned it for a refund. I went to Volvo and bought a new one, problem solved.

Also, I read of someone who bought Boge brand upper strut mounts (aka strut bearings) and then both of them failed, the rubber peeling away from the center metal part. HOWEVER, the Volvo part that I purchased is manufactured by none other than Boge, and has the boge name on the bottom of the part.

To sum up, I would just buy the Volvo brand part. Same goes for the rear trailing arm bushing. For other suspension bushings, I like the Scan Tech parts.

Oops, correction

Oops, after reading Rhaire's other post, I realized that the problem that I read was not with the Boge mounts, but the KYB mounts. So I guess Boge has always been the OEM supplier. So if you can find a Boge branded part, it may be cheaper than a Volvo branded part, but should be the same.

OOPS again, I'm dumb, I could have just edited my previous post. This new software may be all right after all. :)

Some Scan-Tech parts are good, some are junk. Depends who and where they are mfg. Most of the German and Japan stuff is fine. The stuff from India is really bad. I have worked for Volvo since 1972 and have never replaced a strut bearing on a 240, however this is So. California. They are the same quality as a drive shaft center support bearing and you would have to do a lot of turning to equal the the wear on the driveshaft bearing.
