scraping noise from front shock 200 1991

I just noticed that when I slowly go over small bumps I can hear a scraping noise from the front shock(strut). I am going to jack the car up in the morning and tighten everything I can find. What should I look for? It almost sounds like someting needs to be lubricated and I am relatively new to the 240 suspension system(seems alot simpler than my 760).
Thanks

Is the scraping noise kind of a creaking, or more of a scratching noise? The creaking is usually an inner tie rod end going dry. You can pull back the tie rod boot and smear grease in the inner joint. Usually that'll fix it after a few hundred miles. It could also be a creaky control arm bushing. Similar fix, pull off control arm and put grease around the bolt.

Hi Chris,
I would say that the noise is both a scrapping noise and a creaking noise. I'll probably grease both the inner tie rod and the control arm. Do the 240s have a similar control arm bushing problem to the 700 series?

I have been using Phil Wood bike grease (probably shouldn't admit that) on random parts and need to find an auto grease. What kind of grease do you recommend/use?

Hahaha!!!

I've used bike grease on various car parts before too. YOu really just need to get a good chassis lube of some sort for that kind of application. Usually I use plain old wheel bearing grease for those applications.

The 240 control arm is less sophisticated than the 700 series.
