Need an electrical guru's help now. 86 245 200 1986

Ok,

I have posted a few times recently about my 245's problems.

a recap: The car will barely run with the AMM hooked up.

unhooking the AMM results in an easy start and idle.

So, I patched in a new ECU and the symptoms remained the same.

So then I broke down and got a replacement Air mass meter and thought for sure I would have things licked, but NOPE.

With the new AMM, the symptoms are the same. starts and idles without the AMM hooked up but with it hooked up, dies.

Anyway, the wiring harness I have installed is a replacement I bought in the fall from ebay.

It looked fine though, but I'm wanting to know of some possible things to trouble shoot in the wiring harness. I am pretty sure I hooked it all up properly. But now I'm worried that the problem may lie in the wiring.

Do any of you old pros have any suggestions?

I have 2 air mass meters, two ECUs, and i'm clueless :)

Hey Luke,

Sounds like you already did all the things that normally fix this, so let's backtrack a bit.

Did this AMM trouble begin after your wiring harness replacement, like I seem to recall?

Have you checked your Engine Coolant Temperature sensor? Throttle position switch? Idle Air Control? Do you have a multimeter? Is it cold where you are?
Was it a new AMM? What color is your wagon? Anyway, I've lots of questions for you that might help you find the cure. Feel free to email; you can post back here if we solve it.

I would suspect a faulty replacement AAM, try another, to use a multi-meter to trouble shoot your current AAM.
