Front and Rear Door Panel 900 1996

I have a 96 960 and I am trying to replace the drivers side door and the drivers side rear door speakers. I talked to our mechanic at the volvo place and he said that to take the door panels off, you needed to remove the white clips underneath the doors. I did that. Then he said you had to remove the covering around the around (a little plastic rim). I did that. Then he said to unscrew the two screws in the little pocket by the door panel. I did that as well. Then he said it just pulls off.

Here is the main question: How hard do I pull? I tried pulling, but it did not come off, I don't want to pull too hard in fear I might break a piece of the door panel. Do I need to slide it? Or is there some kind of a simple trick involved or what?

Please help!
Thanks,
Teen in Atlanta

After you get everything unhooked, lift up and you should not have to pull hard at all.

to answer how hard do you have to pull-hard! I replaced my speakers too and was nervous too, but you really have to pull really hard. I'm a teenager to and would be interested to know what you're putting in. Hit me up at sponger96@mac.com

240 and 960 are different.

What about the red lens along the rear of the door panel? that pops out too. And unscrew the door lock knob.

The panel should pull away at the bottom, then up and over the lock.

The door panels on my 240 are held on by little white clips that go into holes in the sheet metal of the door. I doubt that your car is much different. Try looking at the space between the edge of the door panel and the sheet metal of the door when you pull the panel away from the door. You should be able to see the little clips. A flat screwdriver is a good way to get some leverage to do this. The clips will pop out of place and you can do your repair and then the pop back in. Don't pull too hard, or you will leave a clip in the sheetmetal when you pull the panel off. You'll then need to take some pliers to pull it out (there are probably 10-15 clips per door panel, so if you loose a few it isn't a big deal).
