120 rear brakes reassembly 120-130

Hi,
I'm now putting my rear drums together again, & my problem is that I dont remember where to fit the part called "damping spring" in the volvo parts catalogue (part n° 662928-1)
Can anyone provide any help, post or send me a pic of the whole thing put together (e-mail is sebastien.reichel@etu.unil.ch)

Thanks in advance
Séb

The pin goes in from the inboard side of the brake plate through the
plate and through the hole in the brake shoe. The spring and the washer
with the long hole go on the outboard side of the shoe, the washer
locking the spring in position. The spring holds the shoe against the
brake plate loosely. I'm going to try to scan a pic out of the manual.

George,
Thanks for the answer, but it's not exactly what I'm stuck with. My problem is about this little part made from a thin steel plate around 1/3' by 1', "V" shaped if you look it's side and that has to act like some sort of a spring somewhere. There is only one of them on each side. What I also remember is that it jumped out when I took the brake shoes/mounting parts out. Any idea about that?

Many thanks
Séb

I believe what you are describing is item 5 in the picture I posted.

The damping spring fits between the flat link connecting the shoes together for the hand brake and the upper return spring. One side of the damping spring is dished, this locates in the return spring. It goes in with the open end first and sits in the approximate centre of the flat link.

Make sure you get the leading and trailing shoes correct

Clear as mud?

Regards

Pete

Great to have you guys around! I'm all set.

I believe the leading/trailing shoes position is the one shown on Georges' posted pic?

Many thanks!
Séb
