Steering and strut problem / question 700

I have two question for the board.

a) 1992 740 GL SW: the right front end (strut ?)is making a clunk when the steering wheel is turned from side to side. The noise is there only if the car is not moving or moving very slowly (like pulling from the driveway and turning at the same time). The clunk disapears when driving faster. The front end does not emit any other noises when going over bumps, etc...
Any ideas what can be wrong ? Ibought this car recently and have a reason to believe that the strut on this side was replaced not a long time ago...

b) 1991 940 GL: the steering wheel gets "stuck" for a brief moment when turned to the left from the center position. It feels like you would be hitting a rubber plug and you have to force the whhel to go further. The "plug" is not there when you turn the steering wheel back to the center position.
Any hints where to start ?

T H A N K S !!!

Steering and strut problem / question 700

If you can feel increasing resistance at every steering wheel turn, the cause could be a sticking axle joint - pretty common on 200 series cars but I really don't know about 700/900's.

Sounds like strut mount bearings in both cases. Are you in an area with many potholes and road cracks? They wear more rapidly if you are.
It could also be outer tie rod ends or some wear in the rack, but my bet is on the bearings.

Thanks.
I took the car to GoodYear this morning and they are going to replace the bearing on 740 - you are right on the money with that one.
The 940: I don't think it has anything to do with the suspension - it happens when you drive and make a left turn (turning the steering wheel). the steering wheel has a resistance in one point - it feels like you would be hitting a rubber plug (don't know how to describe it better) and you have to make an effort to get past this resistance point.
THANKS
