while smoke from exhaust 200 1987

I've used this forum many times to help with repairs on my '87 240 dl wagon. Now I need some advice for my dad. He has a '00 toyota avalon. He had his oil changed at a quick lube place and they convinced him to add some additives to clean fuel injectors and another added to oil. Now on start up he gets this billowing white smoke from the exhaust. Any ideas? I'd assume whatever the problem it is same for any model car. I appreciate any help.

White smoke is usually an indication of water, (blown head gasket, etc.) but you mentioned that the "shop" added some injector cleaner, probably into the fuel tank. It could just be this nasty stuff burning, I would burn through the tank of gas quickly and refill it fresh, if the white smoke still continues it will require further investigation.

Also look into the rad or overflow bottle for tell-tail signs of oil or oil residue, this is often an indication of a blown head gasket.

Start with the simple an obvious before the more serious.
