Hello, I am thinking of buying a 1989 760GLE. Anything you could tell me about this car would be appreciated. It's got the V-6 and has 165,000 miles on it.the women who is selling it has kept the car in great condition and has all maint records. And for $2,200.00 is this car a good deal?

I have the same car with roughly the same mileage. I think the price is excellent, assuming it was reasonably well maintained.

Things to look for:
1) does the AC work? That car has ACC and R12, so getting things straightened out can be expensive

2) by that age and mileage the whole cooling system will be ready for an overhaul (I've had to do rad & water pump relatively recently-- all wear items)

3) any evidence of valve adjustments in the records? the B280F is supposed to have them every 60K mi-- 5.5 hrs labor book time...

4) Rear shocks are Nivomats-- pretty robust, but when they are tired they are $200 apiece

Other than that, all the usual stuff found in the 700/900FAQs applies...
