Changing radiator, should I change water pump too? 700 1992

I am planning on changing out the radiator, hoses, heater control valve, thermostat, pressure cap, and obviously coolant. Should I also change the water pump?

Thanks

Varying opinions on this one I'm sure, but if it was mine:

If the waterpump was low mileage (20,000) and showing no leakage I would probably leave it alone. If it had high mileage I'd change it.

How many miles on your timing belt, seals, and tensioner? This would be the perfect time to go ahead and change those as well as the drive belts. If you were inclined to do everything at once (including a new waterpump) you would be good to go for another 50,000 miles.

I agree with Randie: if your car is over 100k, then do everything at once. It's far easier and less expensive, and gives you peace of mind that you won't have to take it apart in the future. These include:

-radiator
-ALL hoses (including heater and reservoir)
-thermostat
-water pump
-timing belt
-timing belt tensioner
-all three front seals

These are all easy to do once the radiator is out and the timing belt cover is off.

That's my quandary. The car has less than 92K. I'm not real sure about the last time the water pump was changed because I just got the car a little while ago. I need to call the dealer that did the service for the PO.

I was planning on doing all of this stuff at 100K but I noticed a small amount of coolant on the backside of my condenser last week. I guess I could just do the 100K service now and avoid having to worry about it during hunting/football season or when temps get too cold.

Thanks to both of you. Time to sit down with the FAQ for a while and make my parts list.

Include the plastic overflow tank as well. I hope you're going for the all metal three row Nissens rad. I put it in my 744T and it's outstanding.

I will include the tank. The three row all metal Nissens won't fit in my car. The only rad that Nissens makes for mine is a two row plastic/aluminum. That's probably what I'll use. They don't seem to have any real problems if replaced on time.
Thanks

Are you sure about that?? I've got a 91 745 Turbo and I've got an all metal three row in it. Nissens Reference# 655329 Product# 218720

I wish I was wrong but they changed over in 92 to a wider, shorter radiator and Nissens doesn't make a metal one for the newer cars. So far, the only metal one I've found is made by Radtech and its two row.

Mr. Ringlee, if you read this, this might be something to add to the FAQ.
The radiator changeover that is.

Thanks
