Water pouring in from sunroof area (960 sedan) 900 1997

I just purchased a beautiful 960 sedan and during a heavy rain about a gallon of water accumulated in the headliner and made quite a mess. I tested the 2 drain holes in the front of the sunroof and they appear to be working properly. I'm fearing this will be an expensive job and that the headliner will have to be pulled to find the problem. Any suggestions?

There are drain holes in the two rear corners as well, that connect to the "holes" in the gutter assembly. All the drain holes connect to hoses. In the front they go down through the A pillars. In the rear the "C" pillars. In the back they connect to the positive vent assemblies down in the area by the wheel wells.

It is as likely that they could be disconnected from the roof gutter as it is that they are plugged in a car this new. Maybe someone put a lot of air pressure down there during the "detailing" process? (to make sure the hoses were clear and blew them off!)

The "seal" around the roof is to stop floods only. It is designed to have the gutter catch the small amount of leakage that will occur.

If you got it from a "good" dealer take it back and have them fix the damage they caused.

When this happened on a lesser scale to my wife's 960, the dealer referred her to a local glass shop that installed a new gasket for around 15.00. The one thing I find irritating about the sunroof is the lack of a positive stop to let you know when you have closed the unit completely-you might want to open and close it a few times while watching to see when it is completely sealed. It is quite possible that it was not completely closed.
