Volvoworld? 700 1989

I placed an order with Volvoworld.com about a month ago. This was for an oil trap for a B230FT. I recieved confirmation that my order was placed, but I haven't recieved it yet. I looked on the site, and they said up to 10-15 business days at the longest. I placed my order 3/11/02. I have since e-mailed them repeatedly, sent in an information request on their website, requested order tracking on their website and even called and left messages multiple times. All to no avail.

I'm getting pretty pissed now, has anyone else had this trouble before with them?

If so, how did it get resolved? I understand that oil traps aren't a readily available commodity and might take some time to acquire, but why advertise it if you don't have it or your parts resources don't have it in stock?

Thanks for any help.

Ryan

Volvoworld? 1800 1973

Having used VolvoWorld for over 3 years and countless unusual and obscure parts for my 1973es I have always enjoyed doing business with them. Back in the beginning, I used to get my parts in the mail with a bill, that's right, they sent the parts to me first, then asked for payment. Well, times have changed, they seem to be a much larger outfit now, but I start at my local dealer (who gets Vintage Classic Parts - a godsend) and VolvoWorld is next on my list.

Since I only seem to drive this car to get coffee on Sunday mornings, the delay in getting parts has never been an issue. So, if you GOTTA have that part NOW, VolvoWorld might not be your best choice, but they are still my favorite. 1800es rear hatch lock and handle assembly for $25? Oh yes, I am a customer for life!

My comment has nothing to do with Volvoworld, but you reminded me of about 12 years ago when I spent a year in England. While there, the ram on my laptop packed it in so I called a supplier in another county nearby and ordered the part over the phone at 4:00PM. At 6:00AM the next morning I was awakened by a loud knocking on our door. It was the part courtesy of UPS or whomever (can't remember).

I still find it hard to believe. Can anyone imagine that kind of service in NA? Wonder if things have gone downhill in the UK since then.

After 2 phone calls, 3 e-mails and 2 order status requests, I finally got an e-mail back from Volvoworld. I must admit, I was being kind of a twit, but the e-mail sent to me calmed me down a bit. They were really polite and reassured me that the order was in the works, but their parts supplier hasn't shipped it yet.

I guess that's the price I pay for going the el-cheapo route.

In 50k when I need another one of these things, I'll be going to my dealer with cash and some vaseline...

Some dealers are now carrying Vaseline for your convenience.

But it's twice the price you'd pay at Rite Aid.

I thought the b230FT did not have an oil trap.

Doesn't have a flame trap, but it does have an oil trap, also referred to as Crankcase breather box or something having to do with the initials "PCV."

I have had stuff take up to a month arrive from Volvoworld. Good prices etc, but the stuff has to come all the way from Canada, customs etc.

I live in central Indiana, it took 5 days for a package sent from Canada to arrive at my doorstep. This was a substantially bigger and more valuable package than a $30 Oil Trap... it was my turbo sent from Cherry Turbo's. So at least 3 weeks overdue coupled with them not responding to my phone calls or e-mails, my first experience at Volvoworld has also become my last.

I placed an order for the exact same thing back in Janurary. It took about a month to show up. Of course, i live in FL and that is a bit far away from Canada. Hopefully, you can get your problem resolved because I need order about $200 worth of things from them in a few weeks. Selt Belts, relays, and crap.
