Is the 6 in 760 mean its 6 cylinder??? and 740 is 4 cylinder??

760 was equipped with the PRV V6, a VW turbodiesel 6 .... or a Volvo turbo 4. The 260...

was either the earlier version of the PRV V6......or... some were equipped with the naturally aspirated 4!

Consistency has never been Volvo's strength.

As far as the 760s are concerned, yes, the "6" indicates six cylinders. The exception is the 760 Turbo, which is a 4-cylinder Turbo.

All 740s are 4-cylinder.

The 780 is the major departure from this method. Non-Turbo 780s are 6-cylinders. Turbo 780s are fours.

No; the 760 is an upgraded 700 series, some with sixes, and some with 4 cyl. turbos. This apperars to be for maximun confusion, since all 740s are, in fact, 4 cyl.

It depends on the year,the early 760s where 6 cyl.Not sure of the later ones.I think they were 4 cyl. with extras.
