So, summer is fast approaching and with the hilly area I find myself in I figrued I should get the electric fan in front of teh radiator operating for some piece of mind. However, I've run into some annoying snags after removing it.

How do you get the actual fan blade component OFF?!? I took off the bolt and it just won't budge. I tried knocking the end of the bolt with a vice grip to break the seal or loosen it, but it still doesn't budge. Is it locked in somehow? I saw alittle hole that goes through the center rod on the motor side, but can't figure out how it works.

I also pulled apart the motor/driver casing and found that it was HORRIBLY rusted. Seems all the rust and metal that has flaked off has been sucked into the main magnet and gummed it up completely, preventing it from spinning. The problem is since I can't get the fan off I can't fully remove the magnetized plate to clean it and teh center rod. I ended up using a screwdriver wrapped in a paper towel to slide it through... and that just isn't working given the strength of the magnet (the stuff just sticks to the sides).

Any help is greatly appreciated. I should probably just hit a junkyard and grab another one, but I'm not near any yards at the moment.
