I really feel for you,
the same symtoms have been occuring on my 245ti, I innocently walked out to my car one day and it performed as you said. It started and idled fine, I could even rev it as hight as I wanted while in neutral;now then here we go:
check condition of plugs, mine were coved in black carbon, indicates super rich mode. This condition can be cause by a hyperactive fuel distributer forcing too much fuel to the injectors, as well, my friend Kerry described to me of a situation where the green portion of the oxygen sensor wire shorts out on itself and causes an extremely rich situation. Trace the black wire from your oxygen sensor up the fire wall to the spade where the green wire picks up. check the condition of the green wire's insulation. The green wire is shielded, meaning there is a core wire that is insulated from a surrounding wire, if the exterior and interior insulation is compromised (deteriorated) it could be shorting out against the inner wire or perhaps on some other metal and causing the oxygen sensor to send out faulty information to the computer, this is a possibility requiring you re run new wire from the spade to the computer.
I changed the plugs and rotor and cap and wires and fuel filter, repaired faulty wires at fuel pump whose insulation had come off and the wires were touching, I really suggest checking that, it really hadn't seen that before or had anyone mention it. I did all sorts of stuff but none of them cured the performance problem, so I haven't solved the problem but we've got it narrowed down to those two culprits, as well we'll re-set the CO mixture after I get the car back from the shop while it gets checked out for an electrical snafu. But sounds like what happened to me.
Regards, Josh
