Window weather strip 200 1984

The weather strips on the outside of the windows on my 2 door '84 brick have been dried up and nasty since i got the car,(A result of the previous owner not using Armor All). Now they have almost completely chipped off. When it rains, water gets into my doors. Now they are mouldy and they stink. Not to mention the damage to my expensive aftermarket Boston Acoustics speakers. Is there a way to replace these? No shop I have gone to seems to know how. Thanx for any input.

I think RPR in northern california sells the weatherstripping for the window.
they had a nice catalog.
I think it was pretty expensive.

try websites: gapa, fcpgroton , rprusa

I bought some good used ones from Dave Barton, of this board. He sent great installation instructions (complete with photographs) on how to install them. I have to confess have not plucked up the nerve to install them yet though! The window scrapers on my car are in really nice condition - because I have been taking care of them for 22 years - but they have shrunk about an inch in length. Dave's site is:

Good luck on your project!

Those strips are hard to find in a salvage yard as there aren't many 242's and those that are junked are so old that the rubber will be worse. Try to find some from a newer 244 and see if you can make 2 of them into the one long one you need. It would have a seam in the middle somewhere, but a little rubber cement and a jamb-it-in fit would minimize any gap.

Good Luck,

Bob

PS They are sometimes called scraper moldings.
