Still happened so I killed the 3 cookies that related to the Brickboard.
When I logged in just now I got the following message:
"Welcome back, walrus3. Your last visit was Wed Dec 31 18:00 CST 1969. "
Not sure what that means. I'll try another post and see if I have to log in
again.

Look, George, the damned computer just 32+ years off your age. Quit complaining, you old goat!

(Now if the computer could just put some hair back on my head....)

I'm just SURE that something happened between 1969 and now.
I just KNOW it!!!
That was when I was driving a 544 with Rambler pistons ($4.70 each) with
0.070" milled off parts of the crown to make them miss the head.
Did fine for about 40,000 miles until one day on loop 410 in San Antonio,
with both kids in the car (Esther wasn't born yet) at about 70 mph, the
car filled with smoke. I opened the windows but it was STILL full.
A teardown revealed cracks in the tops of all 4 and a 1/4" hole melted
through one. Figured it would take about $200 worth of parts to fix it
right and the next day someone offered a B16 444 in the San Antonio Light,
freshly overhauled, for $200. The easy way out.

Anyhow I don't want to lose that 32 years. I am definitely not sturdy
enough to do it all over at this late date!

At least I am staying logged in now. I guess Gen Bonaparte was correct
in identifying it as a burned cookie because as soon as I got rid of it
and let the board make me a new one, things got better.

ps: Not a goat but a Walrus.

"I'm just SURE that something happened between 1969 and now. I just KNOW it!!"

If only you could remember what.

"Anyhow I don't want to lose that 32 years. I am definitely not sturdy enough to do it all over at this late date!"

Sure you are, George. You just need to move a tad slower.

"...Gen Bonaparte was correct in identifying it as a burned cookie..."

Just mill 0.070" off the crown of the cookie and it'll work fine.

Oh, wait, it'll crack and then burn through. Don't mill, use it stock.

"Not a goat but a Walrus."

Geez, goats are pretty good. I've heard that if you pull into the yard near a goat, it'll climb up onto your hood.... I figured that if I pulled into the yard near you, you'd open the hood....

Just checked. I did have a LOT of cookies but the ones from brickboard
and RWD were there so I left them alone.
If it doesn't get better I'll kill them and maybe get new ones next time.

I don't use tomatillos regularly enough to warrant growing them, and my
soil is so rocky (what little there is) that I grow the chiles and tomatoes
in 5 gallon buckets of a dirt/cow mix. Just set them out last weekend,
in fact, NuMex 6-4, NuMex R Naky, NuMex Primavera, NuMex Big Jim and Black
Cuban. Sure did like last night's rain!

Many thanks for the offer. WalMart always has them in stock here, usually
nice big ones.

Saludos a todos,

Hey George,

Are you going to make the Wimberley run this weekend? Would give you the opportunity to see some of your old haunts and perhaps find the piston crowns. Between you and Foster there must be a number of years, and I bet if you include mine -----.
