Dummy question 200 1983

Hi to all,
I have a dummy question about what is for two wires connected to the fuel distribuitor, my brick is a 240 turbo 83, and I have enrichment simptoms when this two wires is connected, but I disconnect this and works fine, except when is the first start in the day (I have to wait to warm to use it), Any Idea about?

I don't know the answer to your question but it isn't a "dummy" question. The only dummy question is the one you fail to ask and then you break something. Unlike the Jaguar board my son was active on, the Brickboard folks are really helpful of people at all levels of knowledge. Unless you jack your car up by the oil pan drain plug, you'll get along great!

That small device that is connected by the two wires is known as the frequency valve. This device modifies the fuel pressure according to the lambda computer which receives its signal from the 02 sensor and a few others. The frequency valve modifies the fuel pressure which enriches or leans the mixture.

I would check for vacuum leaks (B21FT, engine in your car and mine) are finicky about these leaks, plus u lose boost out of them.

I would also check and set the base settings to make sure the systems are functioning properly and and this will make your car run better.

take care

Not going to say this will help ya, but most often that I smell fuel on a gas Volvo, but see no appearent leak, it tends to be a bad fuel regulator. To check it, just unplug the vacuum line to it & check for fuel in the line or strong fuel smell. (I find it best to drive the car a mile or so prior to the test in situations where it's not immediately obvious)

Is there any trick to finding vacuum leaks? such as spraying some sort of fine mist on the engine? Or do you just have to look hard at all the hoses.
