fuel pressure gauge install/parts needed? 700

was looking through the FAQ about checking my FPR, and it recommended installing an inline fuel pressure gauge.

found the recommended one at:
this site

but i'm wondering what adapters i'll need, and how/where to install it.

any quick notes about this?

thanks.

Kenric,

I copied this out of the archives. If you just want to check your fuel pressure and your fuel line doesn't have the schraeder valve on it (my '87 240 doesn't, I'm not sure about yours) this is what you can use. If you want a permant gauge, I would probably try something more permanent.

Pick up a fuel pressure gauge from your local auto parts store. Be sure that the gauge goes to at least 100psi. Next, go to your local Volvo
dealer and buy these parts:

9995267-7 Nipple $27.45
9995116-2 Hose $ 9.30

The nipple is the fitting that connects between the rubber fuel line and the
fuel rail. The hose includes the banjo
fitting that attaches inline with the nipple. The other end of the hose is
an unusual fitting that I imagine could
connect only to a Volvo fuel pressure gauge. I cut that fitting off, and
installed a 1/8" male pipe thread with barbed
fitting pressed onto the hose. The 1/8" male pipe screws into almost any
fuel pressure gauge found at any auto
store.

To use the gauge, all you have to do is disconnect the fuel line coming from
the tank at the fuel rail. Be sure to wrap a rag around the line when you
disconnect it because gas will spray out since the system's still under
pressure. The parts you buy from Volvo screw on in-line between the rail and
the fuel line. The banjo fitting allows fuel to get to the gauge.
