Ignition module differences... 200

I'll try again.

I'm trying to accumulate spare parts for my brick. I have yet to find any reference to the ignition module part number my 88 245 has. I believe it's a 1357285 part number. There are about 2 bajillion different part numbes that volvo went through it seems like (hell it almost seems like they must be serial numbers!)

Anyway, what the hell is the difference from one to the next? Will a different part numbe work? Will it work well? Will it work well enough so that I can limp home...

etc, etc.

Maybe a better question is this:

What is the part number on *your* (yes you!) Volvo 240 ignition control module (and tell me a bit about the car, too - year, trans, etc)

Thanks

-Steve

Ignition module differences... 200 1984

My daily driver is a 1983 DL 244, I have just purchased an 1985 GL 244 and I have a 1982 GL 244 parts car. I use what I can in each car from the parts car. I have read ( and this is how I take it ) that I can use most of the parts that I can, except for the Fuel Injection. Up until 82 was a CIS, then the 83 has an LH 2.0 and the 85 has an LH 2.2. Your 88 should have an LH 2.4 or better. The Ignition module should be from the same system to work (I think), and you should do fine. By the way (its 1 am here) to dark to read numbers. Yes me

If one's going thru the junkyards the ICU should come from a 240. IIRC the 740s of that era came with the EZK ignition, the 240s came with the Chrysler stuff until 89 or so. I believe (my Bentley is downstars in the brick, and my brick has a "bosch breakerless" ignition) that LH-Jet 2.4 came in 89 w/ the EZK ignition in the 240s, and then came LH 3.1 in the non California cars.

My 88 has LH 2.2, I think. I have seen many ignition control modules (for sale on eBay, for example) that say "works for 85-88 Volvo 240", but the part number is *never* the same. I figure it will probably work, but I do wonder what the difference is.

I will probably just end up gettin one wiht a different part number and plug it in and pray.

I don't know about part numbers, but a good pick-n-pull should have a cross reference book as to what model and year modules would work in your car. I intend to use it to find the right alternator for my 86 244 tomorrow.

Good luck
