front directional lights stolen

This morning I discovered that my two front directional lights on my 1991 740 wagon were stolen. I'm not sure what you exactly call them (they're the two corner lights in the front of the car). Someone broke a window, popped the hood, and took both lights/lenses/bulbs. I guess that's part of the price of parking in the street in New York City. I'm wondering if anyone has advice on the cheapest way of replacing them. Also, is this a common thing? Thanks. You can email me at evancutler@yahoo.com

See my links page below and look under Used Parts for some good sources.

Cheapest replacement technique..

find another car like yours... Using volvo special tool #B1GR0CK0RBR1CK break out the window... pop the hood.. and steal your lights back.. although you could pop the hood without breaking a window by removing the grill (pull up from the bottom ;)

Seriously though that really does suck about your car.. had they jacked the license plate lights or something that woulda been different but breaking out a window always sucks.. if you hunt around on line you shoudl be able to find some cheap.. come to think of it my friends has a parts 740 so I'll check it and see if it still haas the turn signal light assemblies on it

Ebay has them. Just check retail prices before you bid. Good luck

front directional lights - Rehab with glue!

If you do buy used lenses, they might be cracked like the ones on our '88 745.

Last week I noticed that the front directional signal lenses on Celia were getting a little tired looking. The lenses had many small cracks and several large ones.

I decided that I should apply glue to the cracks before they got worse. I applied Testor's liquid plastic glue with a paint brush. This glue will wick into small cracks. I found that the glue wicked readilly into the large and small cracks, even into tiny ones.

As a result the lenses look much clearer as well!

sorry to hear about the loss, except I can't say I've ever heard of something like that before! anyways, check out FCP Groton. the turn signal on my 1988 760 actually fell off and bought one from there. they had them for $50 while everywhere else I check was *at least* $100. Or, if you don't mind used stuff check out a place like www.car-part.com. or, obviously, a local salvage yard.
