I know it rides rough but sheesh! Everytime I open the trunk and decide to look behind the plastic bulb housing protector i find the bolts very very loose. Using the sunroof is such a gamble that I've decided not to use it unless I'm sure its not going to rain or I have a screwdriver with me.

Anyone else with these problems or am I just driving down too many uneven roads? Will new shocks help?

Its not going to solve your problem, but go buy a tube of blue (removable) loc-tite and put a tiny drop on each of the screws on your sunroof that are working loose. It should hold them in and allow you to use your sunroof at least.
Should be able to find it at any auto-parts store and most if not all hardware stores.
But something must be funny somewhere. My car rides pretty rough, but my sunroof screws stay right where they should be.

Before you spend a lot of time at the garage with your wallet open, when were your tires last balanced? all it takes is losing one of those little weights, and you can get a lot of ungood vibrations. Been there. Rotsa ruck.

My '86 245 rode like that when I bought it. New shocks took care of the problem. I went with Boge Automatics which were supposed to be like the original shocks. Some prefer stiffer shocks for handling. The old shocks were so stiff you could hardly move them at all. I might just as well have a solid metal bar in place of the shock. Usually my old shocks lost their damping and made the ride bouncy but these did the opposite.
