Inside Rear View Mirror - Anybody Know How To Get Plastic Piece Off 200

Mine has a lot of play or slop to it. I want to take it off and clean it. I've got the plastic piece off for the sunroof. This plastic piece is a bear. TIA.

One of those little brick tricks. It sounds brutal, but you grab the mirror by the stem and yank it down hard. Off comes the mirror and base. You problems are not over though and the tabs holding the mirror might break off when you try to remove the plastic but at least you have a chance. When you reinstall the mirror, leave the new (I bet you can buy them at the dealer?) base off and just snap it on.
