Bent out of shape bushing afterthought 200

My brain is in reverse gear today.
Now that I posted my original gripe it occurs to me that I don't need for the new bushing to fit in the "receiver" so I'm probably okay on that. But as long as I'm asking, has anyone encountered this condition when extracting an old bushing (see previous post)?
I guess the only way to find out is to get under the car and try it.

When I first made the tool, I took the new bushing to Home Depot where I got the coupler (receiver) and checked the fit. My bushing slid in no problem. I can't imagine there would be that much difference between either the bushings or the coupler. I do agree that the bushing is slightly oval shaped, with the wider section being where the majority of the rubber was.

by the way, anyone having problems logging in here? Every time I try to post something it tells me my login failed.

anything cylindrical that works can be used as a reciever. Big old deep sockets etc.. On occasion I have had to cut bushings out, very difficult but do-able.

yup, when i made the tool and did the job a few months ago, I discovered that the receiver won't work unless you remove the threads, which i did really easily with a metal lathe....could be harder without a lathe, but i'll bet if you vise it in good and grind out about 1/2 the threads(to still allow the cap to fit) you'll be fine. The new bushing will have to go into that, at least that's the only way i figured it out. best of luck
