Valves Adjustment on B21FT 200

Hi
I have a B21FT with aprox 176K milles, and I buy the intercooler on ebay , I hear a valve noise on the motor and a friend says that I have to adjust the valves before I put the intercooler, but I looking for information about this ( to adjust the valves) , and really I dont find info on the Net. Does somebody knows where do I find the procedure?

thanks,
Edwin

PS: I buy a M46 too for my brick, where I find the part list to do the swap the automatic AW71 to M46?

Don't worry about adjusting the valves until you check them- you may find they are within specs.

Hello Edmartz! I`m not sure where to look for the procedure on the net, however here is the way to do it: Measure the gap between the shim and the cam(lobe pointing straight up), do the procedure on all 8 valves and make a note of all gaps.
Now to the problem for most people, at volvo shops they got a special tool to press down the bucket to take out the schim, however a way to do it is simply to take off the cam(almost easier than using the SVO-tool), then its easy to pick up the schims.
Then measure the thickness of each schim to make out how much thicker or thinner the new schim should be.
Then re-install the cam and check the gaps once more(if you measured, noted and calculated right it should be correct).

Now to your question nr.2, i do`nt know where to find a parts list but this is what you`ll need: flywheel, clutch, pedalrack, transaxle(is that the right word?), you may also need speedo wire and a relay to the OD.
I propably forgot some thing, but this is the main things.

Maybe driveshaft assembly? Or even propellor shaft?

Locating a car with the right setup in a salvage yard would be best. Get everything from one car at the same time.

Hello Al! Thank you for finding the right word, because my first language is swedish, it is`nt always easy to find the right word.
And i agree that finding a complete donor car would be the best way.
