How to Remove an Alam Sys 900

Anybody, Anybody, Anybody know how to do this without frying anything??

940 still wont start, cant get enough leverage to get the starter bolts off, so am sending it to a local station for them to do, but really wondering about the alarm system.

After I charged up the battery, the alarm system went off-bells and whistles and all-, but has not done it since. Seems to me that it is acting strange and could be a problem sooner or later.

So any help would be appreciated-willing to donate it in return. (i know not much of an offer, but WTH maybe some one can make it work)

Sam

Knowing that most installer will cut the corner, the wires arent probably solder. Untape and remove the alarm system wires, retape the spliced original wires. If solder was used than just cut all the wires at were they T connect to the original wiring. Make sure you tape all the little pieces of wire that are still sticking out.
Most alarm uses either a starter kill relay or a ignition kill relay (on N/C). In the case of a Clifford, they use N/O. Either way, the starter wire or the ignition wire from the ignition switch is probably cut along the way and ran into that relay. Just cut off the relay and reconnect the original wires together. Solder all connection you do. It is the only way to secure a coonection between two wires in a motor vehicle. Crimp on are BS, "solder tape" is even worst.

Lots of good brand of alarms out there. A lot of customer are asking for a better install price. Lots of corner cutting because of better prices given. People get what they pay for. It always amaze me when someone just purchase a 30000$ vehicle and will go to the next audio shop to get a car starter or an alarm install because they will save 40$ on the install without caring if the installation will be done right. They usually end up giving that 40$ to a tow truck driver.

I have been in the business for over 10 years, tons of install under my belt. I can probably count on my fingers the small comeback I had. I use to take an hour more to do the install the right way.
But I dont do it anymore, people can get the same product installed somewhere else for 40-50$ cheaper. I just dont bother no more.

Good luck

Did it last week had a Clifford alarm was not a problem! Disconnect battery first thing wait 15 min for airbag system to disarm and start cutting.Follow wires from siren this will lead you to alarm system mine was under knee bolster drivers side. From there take out any wires and resplice if needed lazy installers tend to use 3m blue crimps to splice into existing wiring just unlock tab and open pull wires straight up from connector if original wire does not look like to many strands were broken just tape wire to prevent any shorting out to frame if wire is damaged cut and use a good butt splice. Just a note if you don't allready know alarm will go off if trunk or hood is open or pin switches on them are damaged.Go ahead and do it the piece of mind is well worth it just don't go hanging on wiring when you are seperating good from bad. MY experience: most alarm systems are junk, and the guys who install them are hackers. I wouldn't let them touch the wiring in an 87 Celebrity that I'm putting in the demo derby let alone a decent vehicle like a Volvo. They frequently cause more trouble than they're worth, using those tap-in electrical connectors and cutting into wiring harnesses. If you can find the install info for the alarm, you may well be able to reverse-engineer it out of there with minimal damage, thereby eliminating a fwe variables in your other maintenance endeavors....

Agreed. I'm convinced that my AC running all the time when fan on is the result of some kind of ground fault or short from the Avital system that was installed in my car by the previous owner. For the sake of avoiding potential future problems, I'm just leaving it in there and dealing with it for now. But the minute that alarm system goes south - boom, it's outta there!
