fuel injector wire leads: I S THERE A FIRING ORDER?? LIKE SPARK PLUGS??? 700

I am just finishing up a engine to go in a 89 745 e/ 230ft and a horrible thought hit me as i was plugging the injector leasd back in: Is there a certain order they must be in like spark plugs? If so .....(please say no) how in the world will I figure it out. I know this sounds dumb but...PLEASE HELP, ready to drop this engine back in and don't wanna blow it.
Thanks in advance,
Dave in Michigan

There is no order. If you trace the injector wires back into the harness you will notice that they are all spliced together. The injectors all fire at the same time, so it does not matter which wire is plugged into which injector.

Just use the appropriate length wire to reach the injectors.

No, they all fire at once.

fuel injector ... FIRING ORDER? How does self test work? 700

My Haynes later model manual is in another state.

But - I thought that my 1990 Turbo had a self test that tested each injector a few times, in order. Am I mistaken?

I also find it curious that the injection system would inject fuel four times per Otto cycle.

Where can I find an explanation of how this works?

Remember that the injector isn't putting fuel right into the cylinder-
look where they are: on the intake manifold. They shoot it in the general vicinity of the back of the intake valve. When the valve opens, the cylinder sucks in this enriched volume of air out of the manifold. Yes, it probably gets one shot right about as the valve is wide open and the piston is drawing in air, but while that's happening, a couple others are gettign sprayed against a closed intake valve.
It's a tricky thing, stoichiometry. :-)
