Control arm bushing replacement 200 1986

I am going to replace the control arm bushings in my 1986 245. I have all parts in hand. How much time should I plan to need to do this job? Special tools? Any tips would be great. Thanks

When torquing the rear control arm bushings I use a racheting box end wrench. It is a quality brand and did not slip. This way you can get much more movement on the wrench vs a regular box end. I'll testify that if you torque the bushings before you put the suspension under a load, the bushings will wear out in under 5K miles. Live and learn.

Remember to only 'snug up' the bolts and do not torque the bolts until the vehicle is already back on the ground (off the jack/jackstands).

Not only is this for safety reasons (as you should never reef on a wrench while under a car on jackstands) but the new bushings will wear faster unless they are "pretorqued".

Remove the brackets and have the new bushings pressed on in a machine shop. It's advisable to tach weld the rear C arm bushings on, if you don't have dealer ones. Aftermarket ones are known to come off.

Yes, you will a stubby 19mm or 18mm (forgot the size) wrench to torque down the bushings.
