Try Again - 1990 740 GL Hard Starting (at times) 700 1990

I have a 1990 740GL 2.3L SOHC that is steadily becoming harder to start especially when the engine is warm. The computer is giving me a 223 (idle valve signal) code. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and should I
be looking at or eliminating other causes before I invest 154.99 in a new idle valve.

Thanks

Warm start problems are indicative of, but not limited to, a bad RPM sensor. If while you're cranking the starter, the tach needle doesn't quiver slightly, that's another indication.

Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to clean the idle valve and thottle body, and while you're in there, check for continuity through the idle motor, make sure you reconnect the plug good, and make sure the throttle position switch is clicking at the idle position.
