climate control panel illumination 700 1987

My girlfriend has an 87 760 turbo. Last night I drove the car and noticed that the climate contol panel was not illuminated. She couldn't say if it ever was, so, that's my question for you bricksters, and, if it supposed to be illuminated, how do I replace the bulb(s)?

Yes, there is a lamp in a socket on the back side of the Climat Contol Panel.

Ok, great. So how do I get to it? Doesn't look obvious to me and I don't want to damage anything.

With pulley knife, remove the plastic panel covering the heater control unit and the switches. Start by unclipping it around the HCU (do not bre rough but be decisive, it will come off) and then unclip the metal springclip that is behind the area between the HCU and the switches. With the panel off, unscrew the four screws for the HCU and gently pull out the HCU, on the side of the steering wheel, there is a holder for a light buld, replace and refit everything and Bob is your uncle.
