tie rod/tie rod ends 444-544 1960

My 1960 544 needs a new tie rod. While I'm at it I thought I might replace both tie rods and the tie rod ends on the center rod. It seems like the rod ends are not available for the B16 versions(CVI and Scandcar don't have them). Does anyone know if I can use B18 tie rod ends?

What about the tie rods (they are a little cheaper). What is the difference?

thanks
shane

    Hi,
I got the drivers side tie rod a couple of months back and was backordered on the passenger side. Said it would be 2 months and it should be in. Ball joints for the center rod are available but costly. Try www.napaonline.com
and try them for ball joints.
I think B16 and B18 tie rods are the same.
    Good luck,
    Ray J.

napaonline lists an ball joint for $39 is this what you got? Was it an original?

CVI and Scandcar list the B18 tie rod end for 315 SEK (~$27) and 21.65 EURO. CVI list theirs as genuine, they also list an Italian one for 195 SEk or ~ $17. I am going to make an order from them this week for a bunch of other items (window seals etc) so it makes since to order all I can from them (wife has a me on a budget)

BTW - CVI (and Scandcar) seem to be much cheaper then the couple of US folks I have talked to, I am going to order about $400 worth of stuff and the difference is about $200, which should be less then the shipping. I have yet to actually place the order so we will see what the actuall diff is.

      shane

It's been my experience that for most things it's cheaper to go with Scandcar than Swedish Classics, even with the air freight to get it here. You do end up waiting a bit longer, but you're right, on big orders the savings can be hundreds of dollars.....
