turn signal lens fell off 900

Hello.

A guy at work has a 940 and his driver's side turn signal lens fell off (or somebody stole it). As far as he can tell the rest of the assembly is fine. Can he get another lens and reattach it to the assembly, and does it just snap in or screw on like the 240s? If the lens by itself isn't available, I assume he has to get an entire new assembly.

Thanks.

Mike,

I just replaced my drivers side turn lens, the whole unit including the bulb holder bought in pieces (not a whole unit) cost me ~$75. You might be able to find it cheaper, I was more concerned with safety than anything.

Picked up a Scan-Tech lense from fcpgroton.com for about $50, the bulb holder/connector I could only find at my local Volvo dealer, they charged me $20 and it had the bulb included (although I don't think the bulb normally comes with it...)

Good luck,
Zuda

Thanks for the info. I have seen the entire signal assembly on eBay recently for around $60 (before bids closed). Sounds like getting a new assembly may be the best bet.

I bought two 940 turn signal lamps assemblys from Nick Bauer at FCP Groton (l 877 634-0063)last year - around $50/ea.

Nope, you can't buy just the lens. Its' a complete assembly. If the old one is lost, you need to buy the whole thing. The aftermarket ones are not too terribly expensive, but you MUST get teh right one- with fog lights or without.

I was afraid of that. No wonder I didn't find any lenses on eBay. Thanks for the info.

If it's like the 740, which I think it is, the lense comes glued to the inner reflector piece. I was successful gluing one back together one time with model airplane glue, but your friend has appearantly lost the lense all together. He (she?) can try a wrecking yard for one, but the chances of finding a totalled 940 with a good front turn signal lense is really slim.

There is a guy named Frank that runs an ad on this site now and then, that sells lenses. I don't know if he would have that one or whether it's a good deal or not.

You might try Swedish Engineering. A while back I was in there and they were saying the price of some of the lenses had actually dropped somewhat.
