adapting later (small) fuel pump to older car ('82 with large pump)? 200 1982

Hi, does anyone have instructions and know what parts are needed to install a small newer style fuel pump to an older style car with the large fuel pump? I seem to remember reading about doing this somewhere, but can't find anything about it now- it is possible, isn't it? It's for an '82 245 DL. Thanks

There isn't any update or 'newer pump' to install to my knowledge. The pump for the newer cars doesn't make the fuel pressure needed for the older K-jet system.
If you're car has k-jet injection you need to install a pump specifically for
that system. K-jet runs at 5 bar(80psi), the newer cars use LH injection with a
pump that has about 3 bar(50psi).

Hi, it has the LH injection. It's not my car so really I don't know much about it, all I know is that it has a large fuel pump (main one I think, under the car near the tank) and that later LH injected cars have a smaller pump. We bought a used 'big' one and it went bad so the place we got it gave us this smaller one- we're lucky we got that, that was on their last day in business (could this be why ;). Thanks for the response, I'll keep looking into it.
