adapting later (small) fuel pump to older car ('82 with large pump)? 200 1982

Hi, it has the LH injection. It's not my car so really I don't know much about it, all I know is that it has a large fuel pump (main one I think, under the car near the tank) and that later LH injected cars have a smaller pump. We bought a used 'big' one and it went bad so the place we got it gave us this smaller one- we're lucky we got that, that was on their last day in business (could this be why ;). Thanks for the response, I'll keep looking into it.
