'83 Turbo Oil Pressure Problems? 200 1983

My '83 Turbo 240 has 2 - 2.5 BAR (or for the metrically challenged, about 28-35 PSI) right when I start it, but as the engine warms up the pressure drops off the gauge and the light comes on in the instrument panel. It's got the right amount of oil. What could it be? I'm thinking it might be the oil pump but I've lost my Haynes manual and I don't know where the thing is to look at it. Anybody have any ideas?

With all due respect to the two previous posters, what they mean is the one of the seals on the oil pump discharge tube (connects the oil pump output to the block) has probably been pushed up over the one of the ridges which are supposed to keep the seal in place.

I would also vote for pickup tube "o" ring. Bought a modified B21 a few years ago and PO changed oil pump before delivery. Same symptoms. In my case, the ring was dislodged when tube was inserted. Usually won't fail unless disturbed.

What kind of oil? How many miles on the car? What kind of oil filter?

30 PSI on a cold start even seems low. Can we assume enough oil is being picked up? Could be the seal for the pick-up tube.
